FAQs

[Frequently Asked Questions]

  • Will I need to have cash available (in pesos)? Most all places will take credit cards (even for smaller purchases), but if you want to have some cash available, you shouldn’t need more than $1,000 pesos (which is about $50 USD). The cash can be used for buying things on the street (souvenirs, food, etc.), or for giving tips (if you want to tip your waiter at the wedding or a tour guide).

  • Will there be transportation to and from the wedding? Yes! There will be transportation provided from the hotels to the church, from the church to the reception, and from the reception back to the hotels. We will post the shuttle schedule as we get closer to the wedding.

  • What is the dress code/attire for the wedding? It’s a formal wedding so dress accordingly, but please remember it will be warm!

  • What is the best way to get around the city? Walk if you can! Most areas (specifically around Polanco, Roma, Condesa, Centro) are very walkable. If it’s too far, we suggest using Uber. The Uber’s will be in pesos and they are extremely affordable. It’s not worth renting a car unless you will be traveling further distances (outside of the city). The city also has public bikes if you want to use one, just be careful on the roads (ecobici.cdmx.gob.mx)!

  • How do gifts work? Please use the gift page if you’re interested in getting us something.

  • How does customs work when we arrive in Mexico? If you have a US passport, once you enter customs, there are machines that scan your passport and print out a QR code. That piece of paper with the QR code is very important. Before your return flight, you need to use the QR code to enter your travel information. You won’t be allowed to fly back without filling out that form. I recommend that you keep that sheet of paper as well. If you do not have a US or Mexican passport, you will receive a paper form that you fill out that is applicable on your return trip. You will just go into the “foreigners” line in customs to get processed - they just ask you some basic questions.

  • Are museums/restaurants closed on specific days? Museums are closed on Mondays and so is Chapultepec Park (or at least a portion of it). Restaurants are on a case-by-case basis so always check the days and hours that you are planning to go. It’s important to note that restaurants that don’t serve breakfast here, won’t open until ~1:00pm (this is because Mexicans each lunch, normally, between 2:00-3:00pm and dinner around 9:00pm. Therefore, restaurants are usually open late).
